Before my accident, I played a lot of hockey all the time. I didn't think I'd be able to find another activity after my accident in ‘99 that would make me want to and play.

Ten years ago, at Spaulding’s Adaptive Sports Day, I was taken aback at seeing this stand up golf machine (also known as the paramobile). It enables me to be outside in a beautiful place, spend time with friends, and get exercise. The paramobile allows me to still be an active sports participant, which is important to me. It takes some assistance in the beginning to find the right fit and a bit of instruction and get out and play but there are programs to help! I helped start a program,www.golfforall.org that gets people with various abilities back outdoors and on the course.

With the help of Department of Conservation & Recreation (DCR), there are two golf courses that each have two paramobiles. One at Ponkapoag Golf Course in Canton, MA as well as Leo J. Martin Memorial Golf Course in Weston, MA. To get fitted and trained you can go throughwww.golfforall.org or Spaulding’s Adaptive Sports Program. It's been over 19 years since I was injured and I've never been more active and mobile.
